Our client was embarking on an extensive house renovation and asked us to provide a design and proposal for a fully integrated control system, providing control of thirteen music zones, video, a Lutron RadioRA2 lighting to service all of the house and exterior lighting, and eight Savant thermostat zones for HVAC control.
One specific request from the client was for us to design and provide an isolated music studio with a professional PA system. We provided them with QSC speakers, connections for instruments, Roland amplifiers, and a professional Karaoke set-up with a 40” television, commercial microphones and Mackie audio mixer. The music studio is enclosed and acoustically isolated featuring a large sound proof glass window, spanning the entire length of one of the walls, providing the feel of a professional recording studio. The room is set-up to be a live performance room, and has the capability to be a recording studio utilizing Pro Tools.
This custom designed theater in Rye, NY was built as an entertaining space that could accommodate both adults and children. The home theater is connected to a lower level game room where a lot of the homeowner’s entertaining takes place. It was important that the theater room was sound-isolated and acoustically treated so that those enjoying the movie theater experience were not disturbed by the outside noise and vice versa. We brought in an acoustical treatment firm that provided an acoustically suspended ceiling, sound isolation insulation and acoustically treated fabric wrapped wall panels to ensure the desired result.
Along with a state-of-the-art Digital Projection projector, B&W speakers for front, side and rear channel surround sound effect, a B&W subwoofer and a B&W subwoofer amplifier, a Savant system with SmartView Video Tiling provides the control interface for the new home theater. Our clients can simultaneously view up to four programs at once. With the swipe of a finger on an iPad they can minimize or maximize a view and change which program is played through the theater sound system.

The client purchased a nearly-built spec home and made substantial modifications. They wanted a single system to control the security, security cameras, lighting integration and HVAC, pool and spa, as well as audio and video. The challenge: The system had to be as simple as possible, so the client and their children could operate it with ease. Crestron Electronics provided the ideal, user-friendly solution.
The Crestron system fully controls twenty-two zones of audio, video, fourteen zones of thermostat control (with an on screen scheduler) full house Lutron Homeworks lighting control system, control of a Honeywell Vista security system, sixteen security cameras viewed from every Crestron touch screen, and a Jandy pool and spa controller.
Our client’s family is very active, which called for wanting to play sports outside night and day. The Crestron system controls the security, security cameras, lighting and music throughout their outdoor living space. The property includes a football field, basketball court, pool, pool house, and multiple terraces.
The clients envisioned having a theater where they could entertain family and friends —yet not have the sound infiltrate other areas of the residence. For example, the theater had to be able to sustain high noise levels without disturbing guests in the formal living room located directly above. This required special acoustical work and multiple forms of treatment to prevent the sound from traveling through the ceiling or up the spiral-stair hall outside the theater.

This multi-phase project involved preparing a new home for a family with several school-age children. The home of the very active family allowed for activities inside as well outdoors. The lower level of the living space encompassed a theater, bowling alley, yoga room, gym and playroom designed to provide kids with endless hours of fun. Outside, the house featured an expansive pool, pool house, gazebo, barbecue pit and adjoining recreation area. The project was unique because of the various requirements relating to the client’s recreational and lighting needs, décor and time frame.

Purchase, NY High End Theater
The project goal was to provide a state-of-the art home theater system. We choose 2.4:1 curved projection screen with electric side masking in conjunction with a top-of-the-line 3-chip DLP projector and McKinley Cinewide anamorphic projection lens. The speaker systems were chosen because of their digital ultra-high quality performance and their ability to produce extremely low bass without the use of sub-woofers. This gave us the ability to provide LFE (low frequency effect) from all speaker locations. The room was designed from the beginning with acoustics and sound proofing as a priority. The room utilizes a series of suspended acoustical panels along with a decoupled suspended ceiling system.

Purchase, NY Home Theater
The client purchased a Westchester County home as a weekend escape from New York City. He wanted us to create a room where his family could enjoy viewing movies and he could watch sports with family and friends. The client also desired to have a place where he could spend time with his kids while still working from his computer. He specifically wanted a dedicated 12-seat home theater with a high-performance sound system and giant screen. The client required one-stop-shopping and asked that we be the general contractors and hire all required subs to take an unfinished basement and revamp it into a satisfactory home entertainment space. The room was outfitted with a Digital Projection video projector and a fixed Stewart Filmscreen. The whole system, along with the Lutron lighting system, is controllable via the fully integrated Savant control system. The lighting is programmed to enhance the movie watching experience. When the projector turns on, the lights dim. When it turns off, the lights slowly brighten to avoid hurting anyone’s eyes. The client can use a programmed universal remote control to program the Savant and all the lighting. In addition, the theater is equipped with a high-quality receiver, so the family can access the home audio from there. This also makes the theater a great listening room.
